Philemon 1:7 “Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.”

Are you an encourager? Do you go out of the way to be an encouragement to those around you? This is the very question that I posed to a group of ladies just a few weeks ago. God's Word tells us to encourage one another, not to pick each other apart!  I know that personally, there have been people who made a huge impact in my life by speaking encouraging words into my life.....or by sending a card in the mail.

The fact of the matter is this, our world is lost. You don't have to have the news on too long before that becomes painfully evident. We need to be an encouragement to those around us. We are called to be salt and light to this world, and yet we get so caught up in our own life that we forget our true mission.

I Thessalonians 5:11 “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

We all influence people whether we recognize it or not! It is important to be intentional with everything we do, especially in regards to our influence and encouragement of other people.
What would happen if you decided to influence lives on purpose?  What would that look like? I believe we would look more and more like Christ! We would illuminate the path for others straight to the heart of God!!!

When I was a young adult I had a job at a popular steakhouse. I would attend church each week and leave right at the end of the sermon and head to work for the lunch rush. I hate to say this, but I was treated the worst by the "salt and light" people. THAT SHOULD NOT BE SO!! Wake up Christians and share the love of Christ with the people around you! It will make a difference ......at the very least .....in the person's day.......at the very most.........in their eternity!!!

Hebrews 3:13 “But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”

In January my Pastor challenged us to live intentionally and to pray and encourage one another. To do whatever it is that we are doing....on purpose! To live our lives purposefully. I know to some of you this might be foreign, you may feel that life is something that happens to you when you are trying to get things done, but we have the power to walk out the will of God in our lives with intention and meaning. When we do that, we will change the world for Christ.

So, stop what you're doing right now and encourage someone, while it is still called today!
